Welcome to a new school year, Bulldog Nation!
I am delighted to embark on an engaging learning journey where we strive for progress over perfection. I will be teaching 9th and 10th Grade Intensive Reading and High School Developmental Language Arts, with the primary goal of becoming stronger readers, acquiring academic vocabulary, improving writing skills, and appreciating a diverse range of literature and informational texts. These skills will foster critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for reading.
I balance my life as a wife, mother of three, and educator. I love sports especially soccer and tennis, but I also enjoy the calm of reading a good book mostly those related to World History and biographies.
This is my second year at COHEA, but I have been teaching for 25 years in a K–12 setting. I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration and a master’s degree in Higher Education, Innovation, and Research. I am also ESOL certified.
My classroom is a safe space for all my students, where they will always feel valued, heard, and understood. Equally, I hold high expectations for their discipline and academic performance, and I give my all to guide them to the next level. It all begins with them believing in themselves as much as I believe in them. I design my lessons with their interests and preferences in mind to create a wonderful class environment.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out at mrugel@coheaedu.com. Spanish is also spoken.
