My name is Miguel De Leon, and I am honored to be your teacher this year. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science from Keiser University, and I have proudly been part of the COHEA teaching team for the past four years. Teaching is not only my profession, its my passion.

This year, I have the privilege of teaching both World History and Civics. These courses are designed to help students understand the foundations of society, government, and global development through time.

In World History, we will explore the development of the world’s earliest civilizations, focusing on their rise, achievements, and decline. The curriculum includes the civilizations of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and covers the strands of Geography, Civics, and Economics. Students will also build skills in historical inquiry and learn how to evaluate primary and secondary source documents.

In Civics, students will learn the principles and functions of government, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the foundations of our constitutional republic. We will examine how civic participation, laws, and institutions impact both the individual and society. By the end of the course, students will have a strong understanding of what it means to be an informed and active citizen in today’s world.
